Transportation in Northern Cyprus

Ferries in Northern Cyprus

Ferry-boats and sea-buses connect Northern Cyprus (Kyrenia and Famagusta) with Turkey.

There are scheduled sea-bus and ferry services from Tasucu (a port city in Turkey, near Silifke) to North Cyprus Kyrenia, and back. Northern Cyprus sea-buses operate on a daily basis - the duration of the voyage is about two and a half hours. Ferry boats between Tasucu and North Cyprus Kyrenia go every week - the trip on a ferry boat takes about four hours.
You may also choose a ferry-boat operating three times a week between Mersin (a port city in the south of Turkey) and Famagusta to get to North Cyprus by sea. Ferry-boats also connect Tasucu and North Cyprus Famagusta, but this voyage is longer, lasting eight hours. During the summer time sea trips are organized from Alanya, Antalya and Anamur (Turkey) to Kyrenia.

You may also catch a freighter from Italy, Portugal, Southampton and various other European ports. If you travel by sea, the voyage to Northern Cyprus may take you from 2.5 to 10 hours. Ferry-boats and sea-buses connect operate regularly between Northern Cyprus Kyrenia and Famagusta, towns in North Cyprus, and Turkey. North Cyprus Sea-busses are faster and travel between the island and Turkey almost every day. TRNC Ferry boats can take more passengers and cargo, but go slower. The sea trips may be certainly not pleasant in winter!
