Upon first arriving in Northern Cyprus you will be looking for a relaxing holiday, but once you have spent a little time here, you will fall in love with the island and on doing so you may think, “I could have my dream of living somewhere that is still so beautiful and relaxed…” If this is why you have picked up the copy of the PropertyNC magazine, then read the following tips:
Before purchasing a property hire a car and drive around: discover the areas of the island that you like, look at the landscape and facilities in the area. Upon doing this a lot of the work has been done.
Are you looking for a holiday home/investment/permanent residence?
The different requirements for the above three are considerable. If it is a holiday home do you want to be in the middle of things or off somewhere quiet? If it is an investment property, will you be renting it out or reselling and if you are going to live in it then you will require something that will be able to be adapted as you need it to, whether because of visitors or a growing family.
Will you be retiring in later years to your property?
If you are going to be retiring to the island in the future remember that you will want to be local to a doctor and shops, have neighbours around you, but maybe not too close. You will want this property to last and allow you to have visitors without it being to big. Remember that retirement is your time!
Are you going to be renting it out and if so on long term lets or holiday lets?
The rental market in Northern Cyprus is very prosperous for long term lets due to the lack of rental properties on the market. Holiday letting is also very popular in the high season.
Sea or mountain views?
This age old question, but at the end of the day it is an important one to ask yourself.
Garden and/or a pool?
Remember that if you are not going to be living here, just yet, you will also need to hire a maintenance company to clean the pool and maintain the garden so that it will continue to look wonderful throughout the year, or perhaps decide to lay gravel, stones, paving instead.
How many bedrooms do you
need/want?
It might be great to buy a small property with a couple of rooms, but what happens when friends and family come to stay, look at the maximum and minimum you require.
With all the above questions answered and the area you have fallen in love with marked out then and only then should you go to the Estate Agents and have a look at what they have that meet your criteria.
